Specializing in the analysis of controlled substances and trace evidence, we offer analytical testing and expert testimony on a wide variety of controlled substances and manufactured materials including paint (automotive and architectural), glass, fibers, filaments (bulb examination for on/off in traffic accidents), product tampering, fire debris and identification of chemical unknowns. We also employ a forensic geologist, providing unparalleled expertise in the examination of soil and minerals.

Our laboratory  utilize state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation such as micro-fourier transform infrared spectrometry, gas-chromatography mass-spectrometry, confocal microscopy, laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, X-Ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy, UV-VIS microspectrophotometry, scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy and polarized light microscopy to offer analytical solutions many other forensic services laboratories cannot provide. Our analysts take pride in our efficiency as well as the quality of our work.

In 2014, to demonstrate our commitment to quality laboratory analysis, FSC achieved external international accreditation by A2LA under ISO Standard 17025:2005. OUR STAFF

Christopher Bommarito, M.S.

Christopher Bommarito is the technical leader and forensic scientist for Forensic Science Consultants.  He has over 35 years of experience in forensic science in the areas of drug analysis and trace evidence and has testified over 300 times in the US and Canada.  Mr. Bommarito has played an important role in the development of international standards in forensic science.  

KRISTY SEKEDAT, M.S.

Kristy Sekedat is a forensic scientist who has worked for both the NYPD and the Michigan State Police. She specializes in drug analysis and trace evidence.

Rebecca Smith

Rebecca Smith has been employed with FTS (FSC) since 2015 and is the current Forensic Science Proficiency Test Program Manager.

Gabby Robbins

Gabby Robbins received her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from Michigan State University in 2021. She has been employed as the Laboratory Technician for FTS/FSC since 2021 and has since become affiliated with organizations such as the Midwestern Association of Forensic Scientists (MAFS) and the Association of Forensic Quality Assurance Managers (AFQAM).

DAVID STEPHENS, M.S.

David Stephens is a retired MSP Laboratory Director whose areas of expertise include the analysis of hair, fibers, impression and biological evidence.

DAVID SZYMANSKI, PH.D.

David Szymanski is a professor at Bentley University, a geologist and a forensic scientist, specializing in the analysis of glass and soil.
